January 2008 Back at last
Sorry for delays in posting but my PC is back online at last. Please send any stories or pics to me at john.cushen@yahoo.com and I shall add them to the site. Pics need to be in a jpeg format (and not massive files please) - or give me a copy at the club.
Congrats to Mike Langford for taking overall Angler of the Year and Wayne for lifting the boat title - tight lines!
March Presentation Night
The night is set for 5th April so please get the trophies in

Alun my name is spelt Cushen, not cousins, cushion, cooshon or whatever
Jan 2006 Snowball Goes
The snowball that was standing at 12lb was smashed by Lee Thompson's 14lb 6oz Conger. It was also topped by Roy Hardin with a 12lb 50z eel that was skillfully gaffed by ghillie and reigning boat champion, John Cushen.
Jan 2006 Boat Results for 2006
John Cushen was the overall winner with Mike Langford in second and Jody Velda third.

The club did well on overseas events with a second place in the annual Conger championships for doubles team Dean Carter and Jeff Yeoman and the same for A.K.A. as an individual ( he had a 46lb 8oz eel).

We won the annual boat competition against the Weymouth crew (although a little girl caught more than everyone else)

Some excellent specimens were caught inclusing kevin gardners whopping 46lb eel, a number of Blondes around 19lb for AKA, Jeff and Roy plus a 2lb 20z Sole for Wayne Taylor. We had some cracking double figure Huss on atrip in the summer while Roy Bailey landed 99.5lb of fish in his first trip of the year out of Barry.

Boat supremo John Cushen will milk this result for the next 50 weeks

1st John Cushen 131lb 120z
2nd Mike Langford 125lb
3rd Jody Velda 120lb 8oz
4th Roy Bailey 104lb 5oz
5th Paddy Spence 101lb

That means Stringfellow won with more weight than anyone else

So he was the winner and champion

In your face
Jan 06 Doubles Results
Kevin Gardner and Richard Lougher were the convincing winners

1st K Gardner/R Lougher 126lb 11oz

4th M Langford/ J Cushen 56lb 15oz

Looks like the lads had a good time in Gran Canaria
30th Sept Next Years events
Weymouth is planned for 6th - 9th July - start saving now

There is a lot of interest in an Irish trip (or two) - maybe trying new marks - anyone interested ?

Gran Canaria is 5 weeks away

Any thoughts for next years bus trip - venues etc?
Please post your ideas on the members views pages
Sept 26th Lets all do de Conga!
The dark Destroyer and his partner Jeff kicked ass at the recent conger championships with a mighty second place overall. Full details will doubtless be shared at the next meting (along with a chilli) but hats off to the dream team!
On top of that Acker landed thesecond biggest eel of the event to round off what must be the best result we could have dreamed of - all hail the king of eels.
26th Sept Lucky Lougher
Richard has excelled himself with a winning weight at the last shore league event showing that the beach boys are the match of the boating fraternity.
3rd September Lucky in Love
Lucky in love unlucky in cards is the saying - maybe that extends to fishing as well. Gary Morgan was a lost soul and beyond consoling after this weeks competition after losing an eeel estimated at over 30lb at his feet.
On the Day Salih took the honours but it will be remembered I'm sure for that sad long face!! Cheer up Gary - just think how cheesed off you would have been to win the snowball on its first day!
27th August Gardner does it Again!
The snowball has gone with a fine hound of 12lb 4oz caught by Kevin. The fish helped propel his double team to a convincing weight and to top it all he even won the nominated species

Well done Kevin - we all applaud you ( you spawny ......etc etc.)

July Weymouth Trip

Acker was outfished by a girl and the shore fishing could have been better but the nightlife was great!
22nd May Roy Makes a clean sweep
Any thoughts?
5th May Gardners got a big one
On a private midweek boat trip Kevin landed a massive 45lb conger out of Barry.
This must be one of the biggest fish landed from the port in living memory - can anyone beat it?

25th April Snowball goes to Nigel
What more can we say? This 8lb fish is worth more than £60 per lb
17th April Rays of sunshine

Despite poor catches of late a few decent fish have been brought to the scales so here's hoping next week continues in the same vein.
Deans 6lb small-eyed must have felt like a 400 pound (snowball) fish on the way in
April's Pic of the month Look at the wig on that!
Surely it isn't Crooky
April 2006 Sams Site
One of our juniors has made a first class site click this link and have a look fishamania
April Snowball rolls over yet again
Despite the efforts of the clubs most determined members the snowball continues and now stand at almost half a grand. It must go soon - then we can hang up our rods for summer!

Just in case the lads have forgotten what a big fish looks like here is a pic of Gary's thorny - it sent a few shudders down people's spines when I sent a pic to Clarky- he assumed it was my fish!
2nd March C I U competition
The next event is on the 7th May. Best of luck lads but lets give the valley boys a chance to save some face - maybe they can buy the first round!
13th March Gardners big five Oh!
Most of the club turned out for Kevins suprise 50th - what a well kept secret! Thanks to Liz and everyone who made the day go so well. Hers a pic of the great man when he used to catch fish.
